Exchange Guide for Mobile (ActiveSync)

By reading this guide article, you will learn about exchange setup for various types of mobile.

1) Exchange setup on ANDROID MOBILES

You can use Email from on all Android Device for Email and calendars.

Android, like most operating systems, is constantly changing. This guide is regarding the standard release from Google, your phone/tablet might be different to this, however most options should be easily transferable..

  1. Firstly, click Settings.
  2. Secondly, click Accounts.
  3. Next, click Add Account.
  4. Click Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
  5. After that, type in your Email address and Password.
  6. If you see a Domain\Username field, Type in your full Email address.
    If you see Domain and Username as individual entities, Add your full Email address in the Username box, then just leave the Domain box empty.
    If you have a Server box,  Type in 
  7. Then click Next.
  8. Click OK and your device should try to auto configure itself
  9. On the next screen choose any Account options you would like to set.
  10. Click Next.
  11. If you wish to edit the display name for your email account, Click Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
  12. Lastly, lick Next to complete the setup

Your email is now set up!
To make sure you can send messages, compose an email and send it to yourself or to someone of similar effect as a test.

2) Exchange setup on IPHONE & IPAD

Synchronizing your Apple Device for both Email and calendars is very easy, you should just follow these instructions below.

  1. First off, click Settings.
  2. Next, click Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Click Add Account.
  4. Then click Exchange.
  5. Now enter your Email address and Password,
  6. In the Description box, enter your email address
  7. Click Next.
  8. Your device will attempt to configure itself. If this fails, Enter the below:
  • Server- 
  • Domain- blank
  • Username: Your full email address

9. After that, click Next.
10. Lastly, click Save.

Go to the Home Screen then open your Mail app.
This should now download emails, contacts, and calendar appointments.

You’re Done!

3) Exchange setup on WINDOWS PHONE

Like most systems, the Windows phone has a built-in Email client.

  1. Firstly, on the Start screen, slide left, and select Settings.
  2. Secondly, click Email + accounts.
  3. Next, click add an account, then click Outlook.
    You may have the option to choose Exchange or Office 365 instead of Outlook, if so, select the appropriate option.
  4. Then type in your Email address and password, click Sign in.
    Windows Phone will try to configure everything for you.
    If it manages this then head to step 8.
  5. If you get a message saying “We couldn’t find your settings”, Select Advanced, and enter the below information: 
  • E-mail address- Your full Email address
  • Password- Your password
  • User name- Your full Email address
  • Domain- Enter your domain name, e.g. hotmail.co.uk or company.com. Its the part after the @ symbol in your email address
  • Server- Type in 

Check your Mail App, and your emails will flow in.

You’re Done!

4) Exchange setup on BLACKBERRY 10

To set up from Email on your BlackBerry 10 phone, follow these steps.

  1. First and foremost, open the Settings menu,
  2. Select Accounts, and then choose Add Account at the bottom.
  3. Next, click Email, Calendar and Contacts.
  4. Then, type in your Email address
  5. Click Next.
  6. After that, type in your password
  7. Click Next
  8. At last, click Finish.

Blackberry may be able to set up your settings automatically, if not, try the below options:

Exchange ActiveSync (EAS)

ActiveSync provides all the normal exchange features.

  1. Find the Settings menu,
  2. Select Accounts, and then choose Add Account at the bottom.
  3. Click Advanced at the bottom.
  4. Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
  5. Complete the following:
  • Username- Your Full Email address
  • Email Address- Your Full Email address
  • Server Address- Type 

6. Click Finish.

IMAP/POP

IMAP or POP with SMTP will not provide you all the features of your Exchange Server but can be useful if all else fails to get email running.

  1. To start, find the Settings menu.
  2. Next, select Accounts, and then choose Add Account at the bottom.
  3. Click “I will provide the settings to add this Email account”.
  4. At the bottom, click Next.
  5. Then, click Internet Service Provider Email (POP/IMAP)
  6. Click Next.
  7. After that, type in your full Email address for your user name (for example, [email protected]).
  8. Then scroll down and enter mail. for the incoming server
  9. Click Next.
  10. Proceed by typing in the mail. for the outgoing server
  11. Click Next.
  12. Finally, click Finish.

Open Mail and check your emails are arriving.

That’s it. You’re Done!
